Dear friends in BMX,
Here the first update on the International Old Skool of BMX REUNION to be held on October 2nd through 4th 2009 at Attractiepark Slagharen in Holland.
REGISTRATION and RESERVATION.
Although it is only May right now, time goes quickly and because reservations come in at a regular base, we advice you all who want to take part in this Reunion and want to stay at the Attractiepark Slagharen, to make your reservations a.s.a.p. We also would like to advice potential participants for this weekend to send their registration form by mail or post a.s.a.p. to undersigned. Also those who want to visit this happening for only one day, please do sent in your registration form and write which day of the weekend you will participate, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
To make a reservation for a cottage or camping place site, check www.univofbmx.com for more details. Also a registration is form attached to that info. Most of you all did receive the official invitation and registration form by mail or post already.
DAYTICKET / PASSE PARTOUT.
Those participants not staying at the Park or Camping site and that have registered in advance through sending in the registration form, will receive a reduction of 5 euro on a normal Attractiepark Slagharen ticket of € 19,50. So a BMX REUNION day ticket will cost € 14,50 p.p. (children up till 3 years, free entrance). A Passe Partout (three day ticket) will not cost you € 58,50 but, special for the BMX REUNION € 35,- p.p.
SATERDAY EVENING PARTY, OCTOBER 3RD.
All participants of the O.S. Reunion who have PRE-registered will be issued an wristband on arrival at the park. Only those wearing a wristband will be allowed in the “Music Hall” during the Saturday evening party. During this party among others, a former European and Worlds Champion (old skool) will perform with his band under the name D.A.A.N. Be surprised!
BMX FREE STYLE DEMO’S.
For some time now, there are “talks” that BMX Free-style (trick riding) could be introduced as an Olympic sport during the 2012 London-England Olympics!!?? To show Attractiepark Slagharen visitors and old skoolers present during the Reunion weekend in October, the Paul’s Boutique PURE BMX Team will give 2 demo’s per day on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, to show where Dutch BMX free-style stand today. Teammembers are: Pim van den Bos – Michael van de Lee – Dennis Keunen en Ricardo Moes. There will also be present a “Flatland” rider, but who …. that will remain a surprise.

OLYMPIC CHAMPION Elite men will be present.
At this moment we can confirm that the first ever Olympic Champion in BMX from Latvia, Maris Strombergs (Elite men) will be present during this weekend. Through the Latvian Olympic Committee we received confirmation that Maris together with the President of the Latvian Olympic Committee and the President of the Latvian BMX Federation will attend the Reunion. Maris also will assist in some of the activities planned. At this moment we are also working on getting the Elite women Olympic Champion Anne Caroline Chausson to Slagharen. It’s amazing that European riders did win the first ever Olympic titles.

Old Skool “TROPHY of NATIONS BMX race” at the FCC De Vaart BMX track in Dedemsvaart.
On Sunday October 4th Old Skool BMX’ers can register and participate in the Trophy of Nations BMX race at the Dedemsvaart BMX track (located approx. 7 km from Attractiepark Slagharen). A provisional time schedule has been mentioned in the letter of invitation (check: www.univofbmx.com).
Racing will take place on O.S. BMX bikes, models and manufactured before the year 1991. Only bikes with 1 inch threaded headset – caliper brakes and all parts (must be) from the Old Skool area (so, from before 1991) will be allowed. Also click pedals will NOT be allowed. Some Old Skool bike specialists will scrutinize these bikes before racing. Only exception: no restriction on tires and brake cables. We do ask all those taking part in this event, to dress in Old Skool uniforms, helmets, gloves etc.
There will be 4 till 5 different age groups competing and there will be one “Open wheels class” in which O.S.’ers can participate on present BMX bikes, however with one restriction: NO click pedals. Open wheels in this case means, 20 or 24 inch bikes and no age limits (every O.S.’er of 30 years and older).
